STORAGE AND HARD DRIVES

LS-120 DRIVE ITEM#:7001.....DONATION: $5 + FREE New IDE Cable
Manufacturer: Various, mostly Mistubishi and NEC
Drive Type: Removable media, ATAPI-4+
Media Supported: Standard 1.44MB Floppy diskettes and LS-120 120MB disks
System Requirements:
Available parallel ATA 40-pin host controller port,
Windows98/ME/XP should detect the device and have
some support, driver disk included MIGHT have DOS/Win3.x/95 support.
Additional Notes:
These drives are the proverbial "it" for modern techs. Motherboard missing a Floppy Disk Controller? No problem, these devices are fully ATAPI-4 compliant (ATA-4 first appeared in the late Pentium II era, so all modern systems can recognize them. They behave properly on both 40-wire and 80-wire cables (the 40-wire is included because they are NOT UDMA speed devices and will likely exchange data with the controller at speeds of around 8MB/sec at best) Tested on two different systems and responded properly to the "Press [F6] to install SCSI drivers..." Windows XP installation prompt. Responds completely properly to diskette imaging software (i.e. WinImage) and that's without installing any drivers.

LS-120 (top) attached to the secondary IDE channel (Windows XP installation on screen
has already read the OEM drivers on the diskette and is asking which driver to load)
